Portraits

Portraits are a slice in time.  We get them done for any number of reasons; an ID badge, website, graduation, wedding, a gift, or just for fun.  It is how we put our face out to the world.   Once that shutter is “clicked” we are frozen in time, forever this way.  In the late 1800’s the family and individual portraits were a most prized possession.   There are accounts of people entering burning houses to retrieve a family photo album before the rescue of the children.   I know, weird.    Yet as I look across the room I see a portrait of my grand parents.  They have been gone for decades, and the picture was taken years before that, but in that frame I see them just the way they were and remember.
Every portrait we are commissioned to provide is taken with that simple yet powerful notion, even the one on that ID badge you hate to wear.
